Goal and Objective: 1. To provide financial support for improving TB case detection 2. Case detection among prisoners, internally displaced people (IDP), Child TB, Community Based-DoTs, Public Private Mix, Patient Association, HHC and MDR case detection.
Short background of the Project/ and thematic area:
Since January 2016, AADA has been engaged with UNDP as sub-recipient for the implementation of Tuberculosis and Resilient of Sustainable System for health (TBRSSH) in Afghanistan. The first term of the contract was covering 23 provinces in north, south, west, east and canter of Afghanistan, which was successfully accomplished and ended in February 2018.
The continuation phase of the TB project (TBRSSH) was started on March-2018 and continued until December,2020. This term of the project is covering 8 central provinces of Afghanistan. The third period of the TB project (TBRSSH) started in Jan-2021 and will be continued till end of Jun-2022 in the same provinces with the same scope of work and activities.
The main project activities include case notification among the key affected population (prisoners, children, IDPs and household contact), case notification contributed by PPM, Patient Association and community referral, support sputum sample transportation. Also AADA is providing technical and financial support to PPHD on slides crosschecking and MDR sample transportation for RR case detection. Meanwhile, AADA is providing incentive to the MDR patients in Afghan-Japan hospital and providing financial support to maintain the quarterly review meetings as well as SRs quarterly review meeting through this project.

Provision of Primary and Secondary Health Care Services
Provision of Primary Care (PHC) and Secondary Health Care Services (SHC) at Ghazni province:
AADA implements the SHC services through one Provincial Hospital and 3 district hospitals and the PHC services are implemented in 105 HFs (4 CHC+, 22 CHCs, 35 BHCs, 43 PHCs and 1 prison health clinic) and 847 HPs. Both the components are funded through WB/ARTF from Feb 2022 to June 2022. UNICEF contract the Primary health care (PHC) and WHO contracted the secondary health care (SHC) component with AADA. The PHC services is based on the Basic Package of Health Services guideline (BPHS) and the SHC services are in accordance with the EPHS (Essential Package of Health Services). During this project period AADA was able to keep all the health facilities functional, supply the health facilities and health posts with the medicine, medical consumables and logistic supplies. To build the capacity of staff the most essential trainings such as Integrated Management of Neonatal and Childhood Illnesses (IMNCI) trainings for MDs and Nurses , BEmOC training for FMDs and Midwives, EPI refresher training for vaccinators, Nutrition Refresher training, Rational Use of Medicine ,First Aid and CAAC survey training have been conducted.. The needed medical and non-medical equipment have been procured and supplied to HFs. 135 new motorbikes procured and handed over to outreach vaccinators and Community Health Supervisors. One new land cruiser type ambulance provided for Ghazni Sehatmandi project. In order to ensure the functionality of medical equipment AADA recruited on Biomedical Engineer. 62 HFs were renovated during this project period. The M&E department of AADA conducted monthly monitoring mission from the Sehatmandi projects and the action plans were strictly followed up,

Project Description
Community Based Nutrition Program(DBNP) focuses on improving maternal nutrition, Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) as well as care and practices trough Increasing the knowledge and skills about IYCF with focus on the first 1000 days of family life. Through Weekly Iron and Folic Acid Supplementation (WIFS), the adolescent girls aged between 10-19 are provided with weekly based IFA tablets through CHWs and community volunteers in order to improve the preconception reproductive life and health of adolescent girls and thereby prevent anemia caused by reduction of iron and folic acid throughout the reproductive age.
The CBNP consist of two phases:
Capacity building phase: Improve the nutrition capacity of the community emphasis on the mothers and caregivers through CHS, Nutrition counselor and CHW;
Implementing phase: Implementation of nutrition services such as growth monitoring, screening for malnutrition, food demonstration and IYCF counselling through CHW and volunteers

Project Description
The project aims at enhancing the capacity of existing surgery units at DHs and CHC+ to provide quality lifesaving surgery interventions for conflict and non-conflict induced cases in remote districts of Ghazni, Herat and Nangarhar provinces and to protect the front line health workers and citizens from the spread of COVID-19 in Nangarhar. Key actions under this project including construction and equipping of three trauma care units (TCU) in Adraskan CHC+, Gulran DH and Zer Koh CHC of Herat province, provision of medical / non-medical equipment and pharmaceutical to four CHC+ in Ghazni and four DHs and CHC+ in Nangarhar province to provide trauma services, recruitment of additional surgeons, ambulance and referral services, establishing two-unit/teams of highway ambulance in Herat to provide rapid response (first aid, stabilization) and evacuation/referral services to traffic accident casualties, provision of Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) services through 34 male and 18 female health promotors and psychosocial counselors.

Short background / thematic area and Services:
The UHI consortium will achieve this goal by improving public and private health service delivery in the five major urban cities (Herat, Jalalabad, Kabul, Kandahar, and Mazar-e-Sharif) in Afghanistan. The project is funded by USAID and awarded to Jhpiego as the lead partner of the consortium as prime recipient of the project. Agency for Assistance and Development of Afghanistan (AADA) is a consortium member for implementation of 8 FHHs and 24 Urban Health Posts(UHP) in Jalalabad city of Nangarhar province. Through this project, AADA is delivering lifesaving and essential maternal, newborn and child health services including EPI through the Family Health House(FHHs) and Urban Health Posts, which is a cost effective and innovative modality, at the community level. Each FHH is staff with two community midwives, providing round the clock RMNCH services. The FHHs are supported with two couple of vaccinators that are providing EPI services in a rotational way, covering all the 8 FHHs. Each UHP is staffed with one Urban CHW. All the CHWs are educated and provided with job related 27 days initial training.

Project Description
The project is focused on FHH to deliver quality integrated RMNCH services in the hard-to-reach areas to the people who live beyond the reach of BPHS HFs in Faryab, Herat and Ghor provinces. Also, it addresses the delivery of SRH and GBV Services to the affected provinces with humanitarian emergencies and crisis. The key area of the project interventions includes the following:

The primary target of this project is the provision of immediate access to life-saving trauma care, primary health care and psychosocial support to conflict-affected communities in six conflicts prone districts with key activities based on three following major interventions.
Re-activation of previously AHF funded First Aid Trauma Posts (FATPs) concluded on 31 April 21, in one BHC and three CHCs to continue with the provision of lifesaving trauma care and psychosocial support to conflict affected people, deployment of ambulance units linked to FATPs to ensure timely evacuation of conflict casualties from frontline to FATPs and hospitals and enhancing the capacity of Qarabagh, and Muqur districts hospitals (DHs) by recruiting additional surgeons and nurses, equipment and supplies to provide specialized trauma management services to massive casualties.
