Job Description: | She is responsible for the anthropometric measurements, registrations, admissions; follow up of medical and nutritional treatment and discharge of severely acute malnourished children in the TFU. Carrying out systematic nutrition screening of the children under 5 years admitted in the TFU. Ensuring comprehensive medical examination, vital signs, frequent medicines and treatment according to the protocols. Following and adhering to the current protocols on drug administration i.e. antibiotics, antimalarial, anthelminthic, vit A, folic acid. Ensuring timely therapeutic milk/Food preparation and administering the appropriate feeds and medicines for the malnourished children in the TFU according to the standard protocols. Carrying out daily nutritional status monitoring of severely malnourished children as prescribed in the protocol. Preparing and updating the medical and nutritional record for ward rounds on a daily basis. Convening the ward rounds and updating on patient progress. Documenting medical orders and nutrition orders in the patient file and following properly. Keep a tally of all the beneficiaries admitted and discharged from the TFU (admission, cured, defaulters, death, transfer and referral) by age group and admission criterion used. Identified patients who need to be transfer to another phase or OTP, patient with failure to respond to treatment and patients who need to be discharged. Liaising with the health/nutrition promoters to provide effective follow up of default cases. Follow up of the weight gain of patients and feedback to the caregivers. Follow up of the hygiene and sanitation rules in the TFU and during treatment follow up. Any other tasks which will be assigned by line supervisor. She should work in close collaboration with the other health staff such as nurses, doctors, midwifes etc. |
Job Requirements: | Afghan National Graduated from the nursing department of a recognized institute having attested diploma. Must be female. At least 2 years’ experience in the field of management of Severe Acute Malnutrition (TFU, OTP of SAM, care practices) Organizational skills are necessary. Ability and willingness to stay overnight at service delivery. Good communication skills. |
