Project Title: Targeted Supplementary Feeding Programme (TSFP)
Project Overview: This project aims to treat and prevent moderate acute malnutrition (MAM) among children aged six to 59 months and support acute malnourished pregnant and breastfeeding women (AM-PBW) in Nuristan Province, Afghanistan.
Objectives:
- Treat moderate acute malnutrition (MAM) among children aged six to 59 months and prevent them from progressing to severe malnutrition.
- Provide support for acute malnutrition among pregnant and breastfeeding women from confirmed pregnancy to six months postpartum.
- Increase nutrition awareness among caregivers of malnourished children and pregnant and breastfeeding women through social behavior change communication (SBCC).
Target Audience: The intended beneficiaries include approximately 40,072 individuals, comprising 10,824 pregnant and breastfeeding women and 29,248 moderately malnourished children aged 6-59 months.
Key Activities:
- Distribution of nutritious commodities such as SuperCereal and Ready-to-Use Supplementary Food (RUSF) to identified beneficiaries.
- Conducting social behavior change communication sessions for caregivers regarding optimal infant and young child feeding and maternal nutrition.
- Monitoring and supervision of the TSFP implementation across 37 health facilities in Nuristan.
Timeline:
