Community Health Nursing Education (CHNE) School in Logar, Wardak, Faryab and Jawzjan Provinces
The proposed strategy for training of 37 Community Health Nurses (CHN) is based on two- phased approaches. The first and most crucial phase is to develop a clear job description with tasks appropriate to the BPHS, and the curriculum and standards of nursing for the training of this new cadre, faculty development and training of trainers, actual recruitment and training of the trainers. The project pursues the recruitment of female candidates from the remote areas of the districts in which they will be subsequently posted (so as to be assigned to health facilities near to their home). This phase aims to work closely with Ghazanfar Institute of Health Sciences Kabul (MOPH-GIHS); therefore the first phase consumes the first three months of the project, and will benefit from international technical support. The second phase of CHNE program is the actual 24 months training, and one month smooth closeout. AADA successfully implemented the project in Logar, Wardak, Faryab and Jawzjan provinces and 150 competent nurses are graduated and deployed in the health facilities.
