Implemented by AADA in partnership with PPHD-Balkh and The Johannitor On August 16, 2016, Agency for Assistance and Development of Afghanistan (AADA), The Johannitor, and Provincial Public Health Directorate of Balkh, organized the graduation ceremony for 68 competent midwives of “Institute of Health Sciences – Balkh”, which was implemented by AADA with financial support from BMZ/The Johannitor. The overall objective of the 24-month training program was to contribute to the reduction of maternal and newborn mortality and morbidity through training and deployment of competent midwives for those areas that lack trained female health workers -particularly midwives. The graduates were from 9 north and northwest provinces of Afghanistan, and are trained to provide health services to the women and children through health facilities of the remote districts of the provinces. Worth mentioning that this training program has achieved 100% of Midwifery Education Standard. Owing to its excellent execution, AADA received appreciation letters from Balkh Governor and Provincial Health Directorate of Balkh.
